Why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
With so many martial art choices why should you choose Gracie Jiu-Jitsu over the rest of them? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is different from other martial arts like Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Kung-Fu, and Krav Maga for its focus on ground fighting and grappling.
Real Life Application
It has a real life application since 90% of all fight and struggles go to the ground. While some might consider being on the ground as losing, that is the complete opposite of a BJJ student. In BJJ, students are taught how to control and neutralize a threat on the ground.
Neutralizes Strength
Some types of martial arts are heavily depending on speed, size, and strength of the individual, whereas BJJ is the complete opposite. Jiu-Jitsu uses patience, traps, opponent fatigue, opponent mistakes, leverage and physics to subdue a larger opponent. And this is important for women and children to learn. This is also important for children who might be victims of bullying from a larger kid. A child trained in BJJ can easily neutralize a larger child with the training they learn even as a white belt.
Hands On Everyday
While many other forms of martial arts train with padded dummies, throw kicks and punches in the air, and work on form only, this is where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu shines. Students will grapple every single day. How can you expect to become a mechanic if you never work on a car? The day to day hands on training will make students comfortable in any real life threat. It will have you and your family prepared to take action if needed.
"Always assume that your opponent is going to be bigger, stronger, and faster than you; so that you learn to rely on technique, timing, and leverage rather than brute strength."
